does someone have an example R script for using the Canvas API?
Wayne, I've shared your question with the Canvas Developers group, where people who work with all-things-API associate.
Hello Wayne Smith...
Unfortunately, I don't have any answer for you, and it may appear that you've stumped the Canvas Community with your question, but I wanted to check in with you to see if you've been able to come up with any solutions on your own since you first posted this question on February 14th. If so, would you be willing to share your findings? Or, if you are still seeking assistance with this question, please post a message below so that members of the Canvas Community can help you out. Looking forward to hearing back from you, Wayne.
Yes. Since I found no help from other users, I've indeed worked on it.
I've developed an entire R script (using the httr package) to automate
the generation of dynamic, automated quiz questions. There are some
things that took some time. The most difficult was the unclear
documentation on how the answers are specified in the request package.
The second most difficult aspect is how the Authentical header is sent.
I perhaps might share the script and the development at InstructureCon
later in Summer. If not, I'll just post a sample script on GitHub.
I suppose most other folks are using Python, Ruby, or just plain Curl,
but R is useful as well (especially when the quiz questions are related
to statistics). Also, I've applied to be on the quizzes.2 beta team as
well so that I can test the Canvas API under this new ("best-of-breed")
Wayne, I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get the answers you needed from the Community--but I'm delighted that you were able to come up with a solution, and that you're willing to share it! I hope to see you at InstructureCon.
