I am trying to unlock
modules to allow students to access materials immediately. Please advise. Thanks.
Make sure they are published. Modules have a publish icon that must be green before your students can see. Even if all the content in the module is published, you still have to publish the module.
I have this question too, but my module is already published. My situation is that I'm trying to see the module using the Student View. First of all, it doesn't show the published module, so I've gone to Pages. Clicking on the page I want to view results in a message that the module hasn't been unlocked yet. But the module is not locked. Suggestions?
Yvonne, it sounds like someone added a lock date to the Module. This is separate from publish/unpublish. To check this go to the Module in question and click the gear pull down arrow and select edit. Under the option to change the Module name would be the option to unlock the module on a specific date. If you remove this date then the Module and it's content would be unlocked to students.
Thanks for your reply, Kona. I've already looked at the Module setting. The Lock Until box is not checked.
Hmm... This is for a page correct, not a file? Are you using any type of requirements/prerequisites?
Yes, just a page. No requirements or prereqs. Pretty straightforward, right? Maybe it's just a bug.
That really is super strange... It sounds like you've checked/tried pretty much everything. My recommendation is to contact Canvas Support and see if they can help (Help link --> Report a Problem).
Were you able to find an answer to your question? I am going to go ahead and mark this question as answered because there hasn't been any more activity in a while so I assume that you have the information that you need. If you still have a question about this or if you have information that you would like to share with the community, by all means, please do come back and leave a comment. Also, if this question has been answered by one of the previous replies, please feel free to mark that answer as correct.
I'm having this problem too and it's really annoying as it appears that there is no resolution. I have TONS of work for a group of 11 year old students, which they cannot access. It appears that I'll have to redo it.
Kerry, How do you want the students to access this page? From "Pages" or from Modules? Is your homepage your Modules page?
Thank you. It's a page. I used a module template and linked various pages to the different module headings.
Students were able to use it just fine last year, so I can't see what it wouldn't be so this year? (UK academic year)
