Am I able to use a graphics tablet to teach? Diagrams etc?
KEVIN, I'm not sure how your question applies to Canvas. If you could provide more information about what you're trying to do it would help!
I want to use a Graphics Tablet to draw diagrams whilst on-line teaching.
Is it possible on the New Platform for Interhigh?
Hi, Kevin. If you want to embed an image of a diagram you have drawn in a graphics program, you can certainly do that. If you wish to make a video of the drawing process, perhaps with some narration, I suggest using Screencast-O-Matic to record your video while you draw in the application of your choice, which you can then embed in Canvas. If you wish to teach live in a Canvas conference, you should be able to draw in the application of your choice while sharing you screen with your students.
Does that help?
Yes thank you that's very helpful. May I assume that your use of the word 'conference' refers to my live lessons with students? Sorry to be not quite with the new terminology but I have only just begun!
I would be using it to respond to a given student's comment; for example I may wish to sketch a graph quickly to demonstrate a relationship etc etc.
Do you have any recommendations for such a tablet please Dallas?
Very many thanks indeed thus far.
KEVIN DOWNES, yes, conferences are one of the tools built into Canvas that allows synchronous meetings with students via webcams and screeninsharin. Here is the instructor guide on using conferences in Canvas: https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-10460-canvas-instructor-guide-table-of-contents#jive_content_id_Conferences
I use a Lenovo x230, but they do not make those any longer. You might consider a Lenovo Yoga in addition to the good suggestions from Cristina Iuliana Nistor.
That is most helpful thank you Dallas.
I know some of our teachers are using something similar for lectures and quick demonstrations to students.
Some of them are using iPad Pro with the pencil that is available for it. This way you could use some pretty cool free apps like Autodesk SketchUp in order to make diagrams and sketches. Alternatively for more complex demonstrations that you would like to use in - for example an online self paced course, you could use a graphic tablet such as Wacom. Together with screen capture software this would allow you to make a video or a timeline animated illustration of you explaining, drawing or demonstrating something. You would then be able to embed such videos into your course in Canvas.
Hope this helps.
