Can an instructor submit an assignment to turn-it-in?
Hi, Kris Hogarty. Let's take this one step at a time: Are you able to log into the Turnitin web portal? If not, you will need to talk to your local tech support for log in credentials. If you can log in, you need to enable the QuickSubmit feature. Here is a video tutorial on enabling and using Quick Submit: Quick Submit - YouTube.
Please let us know if that helps.
Hello, Kris Hogarty Welcome to the Canvas Community!
Did you want to submit on behalf of a student, or just submit an assignment on your own for a general originality check? And, is your school using the API or the LTI version of Turnitin?
Generally speaking, for any and all questions about Turnitin, you'll want to review Dallas E Hulsey's thoroughly comprehensive blog post, Canvas and Turnitin. And if you want to post questions to that blog, please join the Plagiarism group by selecting Join Group from the Actions dropdown of the group's home page.
I just want to submit a paper on my own for a general originality check. I am not sure which version we are using.
Kristine Y. Hogarty, Ph.D.
Director of Assessment
Thanks for the clarification, Kris. That's actually easy to do. Use the Quick Submit option to upload a file for an originality check. Dallas includes a tutorial in his blog, and you'll find the link to Turnitin at Quick Submit - Guides.turnitin.com
Moving forward, you'll want to determine whether you are using the LTI or API, as the procedures for using each one differ significantly. If the assignment is set up as an "External Tool" type, it's the LTI; if Turnitin is enabled via a checkbox in the settings for the assignment, it's the API.
I am looking at the tutorial but I don’t see user information to click on.

I just tried to submit through turnitin.com – how long does it take to get a report?
That varies by the traffic on Turnitin's servers, but it should take no more than five or ten minutes normally. Simply hit refresh on your browser after a few minutes, Kris.
Thanks for your help!
I don’t see a quick submit option ;0)
Yes, you have to turn it on; the video I linked shows you how.
Thanks Dallas E Hulsey your blog is Dallas Hulsey's Blog is super useful. Thanks Kris Hogarty for posting and Stephanie Sanders for all the info you posted. This wasn't really a question that I had personally, but I love content that I can pass on to my fellow instructors.
