I have a final exam set with a time limit of 180 minutes. One of my students just took nine hours to complete it. How in the heck did that happen? It is supposed to automatically submit at the limit. Why didn't it do this?
Hi Carol Hobson - The short answer is that it shouldn't and this may be something worth contacting Canvas Support about. (Help on the left side navigation bar, and then Report a Problem.) I assume you are basing the 9 hour timing on the Quiz Log. I had a similar issue occur at my institution, and after checking the student log files (which your campus administrator can do and are a bit more specific in nature), I determined that it appeared that the faculty member had actually published the quiz for a brief moment of time before locking it down further with time limit and date/time of availability and--sure enough--the student went into the quiz during that brief window and because the student could essentially do no more, Canvas had recorded it as a continuous multi-day (in this case) session. But assuming none of those holds true here, you may have to contact Canvas support and see what they have to say.

angry about it because I have a student that has been a problem and now he
may get away with this.
