I need to load quizzes and tests into my courses. How do I do that?
Hello David Murphy Welcome to the worldwide Canvas Community! I see that you joined us back in March, but this appears to be your first active engagement with us. We can likely help you more if you provide a few more details. You say that you want to "load" quizzes and tests, so that implies that you have, I'm guessing, content produced from an outside resource. The first thing to do is to see if your publisher/provider can provide the quiz in an QTI file format, as outlined here: How do I import quizzes from QTI packages? If not, be sure to read the additional information provided at the top of that page in the Notes area. I've assisted many faculty members at my own institution with quizzes produced in Blackboard, and had the most success importing them as entire courses. (In most cases, nothing else is affected in the Canvas courses, the so-called Blackboard "course" files only contained quizzes.)
Anyway, if you can provide more information, it would help. Some in the Community are more up to speed on certain types of quiz products than others.
Thanks for your note.
I have my own quizzes and exams, developed over the years I have taught Criminal Law 211. I need information explaining to how to load those into the CANVAS program. Do you have any references?
Thanks very much.
David P. Murphy

I will check the link you provided.
Happy to help, David. By the way, as I mentioned some imports may work better as "course" imports, even if you're not planning to import an entire course. So try the regular quiz import first, and then barring that try importing whatever you have as a course. Details start here, depending on the system you're importing from: https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-10460#jive_content_id_Course_Import_Tool
Hello David Murphy...
If your school has access to the Respondus 4.0: Exam Authoring Tool, you may want to check out a blog I posted here in the Canvas Community back in December 2015. This software allows you to batch upload quiz questions all in one user-created file. Check out my blog, Batch Uploading Quiz Questions with Respondus, which is located in the Canvas Admins group here in the Community. If you are not yet following this group in the Community, please use the link I've provided and then click on the "Follow" button on the top right corner of the page. If you have any questions about how to format your files, please post them to my blog, and I'd be happy to try and answer.
On the off-chance that your quizzes are just simply MS Word documents or other type of document, you may just need to "build" the quizzes in Canvas rather than "load" them.
