I am the lead instructor in a course. Is there a way to limit the permissions of Teaching Assistants in the course?
Hello Janet Schlechter...
Permissions for roles in Canvas are handled at the account level, so if you are an admin for your school's Canvas instance, you can change permissions for the "TA" role. However, keep in mind that if you change any of those settings, it applies for all users who are enrolled as a "TA" in a course...not just for your individual course. If you are not an admin, you would need to speak with someone at your school who is ... so that you and that person can determine if changing permissions for the "TA" is a good idea or not. Here is a Guide to help you: How do I set permissions for a course-level role in an account?
In addition to what Chris Hofer said - you can also talk to your admin about creating a custom role for your TA, if it's different than how other instructors utilize the TA role. So Instructor X and Y could use the traditional TA role, and you'd have the new role "TA-nongrading" role to use.
