Making links within an embedded google document open in a new tab by default?

In my canvas page, I have a document that has links to several other documents that link to other documents that do a "force copy" and I want my students to be able to access it by just clicking the link and it opening the force copy document in a new tab. Currently, when you click on the link on canvas, the iframe turns white and there's nothing there. If you right click the link, you can select "open in new tab" and this works. This is a bit of an annoyance and not user-friendly for students. Is there a way for me to make it so that it opens in a new tab? For some reason, it automatically opens in a new tab when I have a force copy document link in an embedded google slide...

Thanks!
