What is the best way to share a course with 8 other teachers?
Can you give more context? Is this a co-teaching issue, where 8 teachers will be working with the whole class, or do each teacher have their own section? or is this only about course content being shared with the 8?
We are an independent study school. We have 8 teachers that use the same classes. I want to create something like master type classes and have each teacher use them for their students. I do have access to the Commons and I am an administrator on the account.
Then the easiest way is to not have them all in the same class. Create your master copy of the course, then copy it once for each teacher, then enroll the teacher and their students into their copy of the master course. I believe the blueprint feature would be nice here, which allows you to lock portions and push updates to the copies, but I haven't messed with it much.
Cindy, are you a teacher or a Canvas administrator? Do you have access to the other courses or not? Do you (and the other teachers) have access to Canvas Commons? This type of information will help us figure out the best way to help you share a course with other teachers!
We have a lot of instructors who have us create a "Sandbox" course for them to turn into a Master Course so that all sections of that particular course will all have the same content loaded into them. For example, our Welding courses, HVAC courses, Biology courses, and some computer courses. It works out very well and provides consistency across the sections. It has been especially helpful in our Welding and HVAC courses, because a lot of times students work in factories and will have their work shifts change, and we can switch them to a different section and not have to worry that they will not get the same information as their previous section.
I will echo the mention of Canvas Release: Blueprint Courses for this. However, Canvas Commons and Course Exports (How do I export a Canvas course?) are fine options in their own right.
