How can I save my CANVAS courses on my home computer.
Can you give me instructions to download the material I have developed?
Please let me know.
Hi Jay Lewenstein Welcome to the worldwide Canvas Community. I see you joined the Community awhile back, but this appears to be your first posting. We do not have access to your course site or material, but I am assuming since you indicate you have "developed" material that you are an instructor. It depends what you mean by "export" since there are several ways this can be done. The first link below indicates how to export all material for later upload into a separate Canvas site or even another LMS; the next two show how you can export material to view your course offline. Perhaps one of these is what you are after:
But if you are talking about simply saving backup copies of files you have placed into the course, you can download all of the FILES (not the HTML pages or things like discussion prompts) by exporting them all at once into a ZIP file, following these directions: How do I download a folder in ZIP format as an instructor? There's really no super-good way of saving material that you typed manually into the various rich content editors (discussion prompts, assignments instructions), however, though in theory they are all getting saved as HTML files that will appear in the one of the export packages outlined above. Some faculty will make their own backups of such material by doing them ahead of time as Word documents and saving them that way.
I may have over-analyzed what it is you really needed, but I hope this helps!
Estimado Professor Black,
Thank you for your response.
