Discussion boards for online courses typically require a due date for an initial post and then a due date for responses to peers. For instance, initial post is due on Wednesdays and all responses to peers are due on Saturday.
Is there a way to give students greater clarity by creating multiple due dates for the discussion assignment? One due date for the initial post and another for the response to peers? Also, is there a way to give each due date a title, such as initial post and response to peers?
If only one due date is listed in Canvas, then some students do not clearly comply with the course policy for initial post and peer responses even though the criteria are expressed in the course syllabus and posted in the discussion prompt.
