How do I activate the camera on Canvas? I use Mac computer and sometimes will have iPad access at my High school.
I had no problem earlier this year and for some reason it says I need a flash drive???
Hi Anne Marie Perdriau , you posted this in the worldwide Canvas Community and not (as your message implies) to your teacher. (To do that in Canvas, you can click on Help>>Ask Your Instructor a Question.) That said, I can offer a few suggestions, though my best advice would be to see if your local IT department at Central Catholic High can assist a bit. (They don't appear to have a web page on a quick search I did on the web site for your school, but they DO have an IT department, from all appearances.)
Anyway, let me clear up one thing for you: you do not have to have a flash drive. What Canvas is asking is that you need to have a browser plug-in program called Flash installed on your computer to have the camera work properly in Canvas. The best thing you can do to start off with is check this page: Which browsers does Canvas support? On that page, there is a link to the Flash site under the Required Components heading. That page will verify whether your Flash installation is up to date, if indeed you have it at all. Now, I am puzzled that you said you had no issue last year, since that requirement has not changed over the past (several) years. It's possible that your version of Flash is outdated.
As for the iPad, Canvas has an app for the iPad that is free of charge via the iTunes store. There is documentation on what the app can (and cannot) do here: Canvas Student iOS Guide - Table of Contents . You should be able to record media on the iPad, as well, as outlined here: How do I submit assignments in the Canvas Student app on my iOS device? assuming this is an assignment requirement.
Hope this helps a bit!
