I have a worksheet that I would like my students to complete. I have posted it into Assignments, but I cannot figure out how to allow the students to write/mark on the sheet directly and submit their work. Is this possible?
Kara, you can do this in Canvas using Google Drive. The gist of it is that you create the worksheet in a Google Doc and then add it to the assignment using the following directions - How do I create a cloud assignment with a Google Drive file?
As a side note, I've also taken the questions from a worksheet and added them to a quiz. I let the students know it's not really a quiz and don't put a time limit on the quiz so that way students can go in and out of the quiz and answer questions. Once they've finished they can then submit it. This has worked pretty well and allows me to grade pretty quickly!
Hope this helps!
Hi Kara Day
Currently this is not possible in Canvas, however there is a feature request for this at Form-based assignments (e.g. worksheets or guided reflections) This idea is currently open for voting and on the product team's radar. Look it over, add your comments and vote if you are in favor of this idea.
A work-round used by many of our faculty is to have students download the form, complete it and then upload it as their assignment submission. Alternately your students can fill out the form by hand, then scan and upload the scan.
The problem with the above option is that you can't grade the individual entries on the form, if that is the form's purpose. If you want to be able to grade and comment on each individual field on the form, then it would be better to create this as a Canvas quiz.
I hope this helps,
