I have students enrolled in a course that are taking it for either 2 credits, 3 credits, 4 credits, or 5 credits.
How do I create and maintain students in separate Groups while enrolled in the course?

Diana Oltman, I think it depends on why you'd like to separate them. Is it for grading purposes? Group project purposes? Different due date or assignments purposes? That you don't want them to see each other in the course purposes? That you just want to be able to tell who is who purposes?
If you could explain why you need/want to separate them then that will help us give you ideas of what you could do.
?Thank you for your response.
The students do not have different due dates or assignments.
It is not related to grading....
I don't mind them seeing the cohorts in the course.
I was just trying to see if I grouped these students, then I could determine when the one group was completed. 2 credits students end their course at Chapter 6. 3 credit students end their course at Chapter 7. 4 credit at Chapter 11. 5 credits at Chapter 12. If I kept them in groups then they wouldn't be able to progress further into the course or assignments.
I hope this makes sense.
Thank you for your input.

Diana, so is this for purely informational purposes, not to keep anyone in or out of anything? If so, then could you use the Notes column in the gradebook to indicate who is taking the course for which number of credits?
Hi Diana Oltman
Unfortunately, in Canvas this is a grading issue. The graded activities for the 3, 4 and 5 credit students will count against the grade percentages of the 2, 3 and 4 credit students.I think I would use Differentiated assignments and Groups, or even Sections, for this purpose with the 2-credit assignments open to everybody, the 3 credit assignments open to everybody except the two-credit students etc.
