Why won't assignment groups stay assigned? They are assigned, and then they disappear a few days later.
C N, could you provide a little more information about the problem you are experiencing? Do you mean that you create an assignment and set the assignment group and then later the assignment group that was assigned to that assignment has changed?
Different students have been assigned to various assignments. 3 students might be assigned to each different assignment, and a submission is required. Although the submission is graded, the students assigned disappear, and they have to be reassigned. Is this because all students need to be assigned to group sets before assigning them?
When you say that you're assigning them to a different assignment, how are you assigning them to the assignment? Are you using groups? Are you using the "Assign to" for the assignment and then entering in the student's names or are you entering in the group name?
Students are assigned to an assignment using the "Assign to" and then entering the student's name. They have to keep being assigned because they disappear a couple days later.
Are you the only Instructor in the course? I only ask because we've had this happen when there are other Instructors in the course, but otherwise this is not expected behavior and I would report this to Canvas support. The best way to do this is from inside Canvas click on the Help link (bottom left) and the Report a Problem.
Hello there, C N...
As I was reviewing older questions here in the Canvas Community, I came across your question. I wanted to check in with you because I noticed there hasn't been any new activity in this particular topic since Kona Jones' last reply on November 2, 2017 where she had an additional question from you. Have you had an opportunity to review her response? Have you been able to resolve this issue? If so, could you please come back to this thread to give us an update on how it was resolved? Or, if you are still looking for some help with this question, please post a message below so that someone from the Community might be able to assist you. For now, I am going to mark your question as "Assumed Answered" because there hasn't been any new activity in this thread for over four months. However, that won't prevent you or others from posting additional questions and/or comments related to this topic below. I hope that's alright with you. Looking forward to hearing back from you soon.
