I am not able to submit anything for a course module and none of the classes show up on my dashboard. The empty boxes keep flashing.

That doesn't sound good. Have you tried using a different web browser such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome? Those two web browsers are typically recommended when navigating Canvas compared to using Internet Explorer or the new Edge browser (some things like submitting assignments don't work very well with IE an Edge, unfortunately).
You also indicate that none of your courses are showing up on your Dashboard. Have you tried going to "Courses" >> "All Courses" in Canvas to see if you can see them listed there? You can customize your list of courses that appear on the Dashboard by placing a star next to a course name on the "All Courses" screen.

My experience has been that the flashing boxes on the dashboard is usually a network related issue and refreshing/reloading the page or trying again in a few minutes will resolve the issue. I experienced this just the other day and a reload fixed it without having to switch browsers.
