Regarding course sites getting close to maxing their file storage capacity - is there a way to set up notification of this for Admins, please, rather than running a report?
Bridget, there's no way on the front end of Canvas to do this, but I'm betting on the back-end and with some programming there is! This isn't my area of expertise though so I'm going to share this with the Canvas Developers to see if they can help!
You could definitely set up something using the Canvas API for this. I had a quick review of the API endpoints and have a few ideas. Do you have any experience in coding/scripting with something like Perl, Python or similar?
Also before recommending a solution, how many courses do you have running in any one Term? Depending on how many you have would add to the complexity of how the script would work (to ensure scalability). Also how often are you wanting this to run to alert you?
I can help give you the logic of what you would need to achieve and add to the script and point you to the right API endpoints if that would help? It will definitely need some development to get it up and running, but is 100% possible.
Let me know!Cheers,Stuart
Thought I would poke my head in and see how you were going with this. Would love to hear back so that I can give you more information on possible solutions.
Look forward to hearing from you!Stuart
You can also use the Course Storage Report. This might be easier than having to call all the courses one at a time via an API call.
We are giving the Canvas Admins area a little bit of love and just want to check in with you. This will also bring this question new attention.
