How can an instructor open future modules in advance for one student and not the whole class?
Hi Mark Simpson - Full credit to the ever-knowledgeable Kona Jones for answering a very similar question fairly recently, and she included a link to her very clever work-around to this here: Releasing Module prerequisites . The short answer is: not really built-in to Canvas, but Kona thought of a great way around this.
Hello there, Mark Simpson...
I was reviewing older questions here in the Canvas Community, and I came across your question. I noticed that we have not heard back from you since you first posted this question on November 16, 2017. Have you had an opportunity to review the feedback and the link that Ken Black gave you? If so, did Ken's response help to answer your question? Or, are you still looking for some assistance with your question? If you feel that Ken's response has helped to answer your question, please go ahead and mark his response as "Correct". But, if you are still looking for some help from Community members, please come back to this topic to post a message below letting us know how we can help. For now, I am going to mark your question as "Assumed Answered" because we've not heard back from you and because there hasn't been any new activity in this thread for over four months. However, this won't prevent you or others from posting additional questions and/or comments below that are related to this topic. I hope that's alright with you, Mark. Looking forward to hearing back from you soon.
Hi Chris...Thanks for following up. I've moved on since I posted this some months ago. However, I will check out the workaround suggested in https://email@example.comfirstname.lastname@example.org/blog/2017/05/11/bypassing-requirementsprerequisitse-for-one-student this coming week. The more pressing issue I've been experiencing for some time now has to do with my graded interactive Kaltura (LTI) quizzes and problems with recording grades in students' Grade books once submitted. This isn't pervasive but a pain in the neck when it does occur as I then have to do follow up work. I've asked my students to only use the Chrome browser, not a smartphone, a desktop/laptop with a direct wall connection, and avoid wifi just so that this doesn't keep happening. Still, they insist, grades are not recorded. Which brings up a related issue about Kaltura itself. I'm wondering if you or anyone else have received (critical/negative) comments on Kaltura compared to Zaption, the previous LTI app we Canvas users here at FGCU used. Without going into detail, my wife - also an online instructor - and I are not very satisfied with its functionality compared to Zaption. Anyway, thanks for your help...Mark

Hi Mark Simpson...
Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I do not have any experience with Kaltura or Zaption. (I am just an admin for our school's Canvas instance...and I do not teach classes). It sounds like you may want to post your question about Kaltura as a separate question here in the Canvas Community (or maybe search to see if there is one similar that already exists?) so as to not get this current topic about unlocking a module for one student blended with a question about Kaltura....IMHO. Would that work for you?
