Hi everyone,
I have a student who needed to retake a quiz after it was due. The first time he took the quiz, he had a tech issue and wasn't able to submit any answers. I reopened the quiz for him and gave him an extra attempt. He says he retook it, but I can't find a submission from him that contains his answers. In the gradebook, his grade is a rocket symbol, and I don't know what that means in this case. Assuming the student actually did retake the quiz, where is it?
Thanks!
Nellie Sommer,
The Canvas Instructor's Guide has a page called How do I use the icons and colors in the Gradebook? that explains what the different icons mean, assuming that you can figure out that a rocket ship means Quiz (although it is labeled as #7 in the image). There was a lengthy discussion about why it's a rocket ship and the difficulty of obtaining a universal symbol for quizzes in the Canvas Production Release Notes (2017-07-15) .
From that Instructor's guide:
You should be able to go into SpeedGrader and find the quiz. You can also go to the quiz page and click on Moderation and find it that way. Also, if you mouse over a cell in the gradebook, there should appear a little diamond in the top right corner. Clicking that will open up a dialog box with a link to "More details in the SpeedGrader" and clicking that link will open SpeedGrader directly to that student's quiz.
