Hello,
I'd like to know whether students who are assigned a peer review can see comments made by the student author of the submission that they are reviewing. I want the author to post a comment to their own work before submitting it identifying some specific things they want the editor to focus so that the editor can see this comment and respond accordingly in another comment. Will this work? I understand that reviewers cannot see comments by other reviewers or instructors.
Hello Julie. I noticed that no one had commented on your question regarding peer reviews. Did you find the answer to you question? I haven't used peer reviews exactly how you describe in your question, but found this page describing some of the features possible with peer reviews.
How do I create a peer review assignment?
Down the page this is written about anonymous reviews.
Assign Anonymous Peer Reviews
If you want to make peer reviews anonymous, check the Peer Reviews Appear Anonymously checkbox.
Note: Canvas DocViewer does not support anonymous comments, so it cannot be used for annotated feedback on assignments with anonymous peer reviews.
If you didn't find a way within the comments area itself to have a student leave comments about what they would like reviewed specifically, I guess one option would be to have this typed at the top of their document itself so it appears as part of the paper submission.
I also found a previous post where the comments discuss some potential options if you want students to be able to respond back and forth to one another regarding reviewer comments.
Allowing students to interact during assignment peer reviews
I hope the new year has started off well!
