I am new to FSW Online and I'm not sure how I join my class to get my assignments and such.
Hello Idalia Romero-Talbert Welcome to the Canvas Community, and thanks for posting your question here! Each school handles enrollments into Canvas differently, so I won't be able to give specifics for your course, but I will give you some general information.
One way that schools enroll students is via their SIS (Student Information System). The data coming from the SIS is sent to Canvas once you enroll in a course a the school. A second way that you might be enrolled is via a manual invite to the course. This usually involves either a Canvas admin at your school or your instructor adding you to the course roster in Canvas, and then you'd get an e-mail message with a course invite. A third option is invites via URL...where your instructor would send you a unique URL for the course, and you would go to that URL and then join the class that way.
Once in Canvas, you'll also want to check the "Courses" >> "All Courses" screen to see if your course is listed there. It may be that the course isn't currently in a "published" state...which means the instructor is not yet ready for students to begin working in the course. Instructors must "publish" a course in order for you to access the content. They also need to make sure that the course start/end dates are properly set in their course, too.
I was also able to find this page on your school's website: Help Desk | Florida SouthWestern State College. It looks like there are some helpful resources there as it relates to Canvas. I would suggest reaching out to someone at your school who works in the Online Learning Department (or similar area of your College) or your instructor ... as they may be able to assist you further to get the course that you need.
I hope this information will be helpful to you, Idalia!
