One of my quizzes will not save. No problem with the others.
Hi Richard McAnulty...
A couple things to check... First, what web browser are you using? Generally speaking, it is better to use Firefox or Chrome instead of Internet Explorer or Edge. Also, for the quiz in question, have you ensured that all your dates you've set for the quiz are correct...meaning, the availability dates don't conflict with each other? Do you see any other settings in this quiz that look different than other quizzes in your course? Since the majority of Canvas Community members do not have access to your school's Canvas environment, this is a bit hard to diagnose, but maybe if you shared some screen shots of your quiz settings, we could help troubleshoot. Thanks Richard! Looking forward to hearing from you soon!
Thanks for reaching out. I am using Safari. I have successfully set up all
of my courses so far. No problem with any of the quizzes, except for quiz 1
in one of my courses. It is not saving and publishing it, but no error
I have double checked, but I must be missing something. I have attached 4
screenshots. The problem is with quiz 1; it cannot update it. No problem
updating quiz 2.[image: Inline image 1]
Thanks in advance,

Hello Richard McAnulty...
Thank you for the additional information. I don't use Safari (as I am on a PC), but have you tried downloading either Firefox or Chrome to your computer and tried changing the quiz settings using either of those browsers? That would be my first recommendation. Beyond that, I'm not exactly sure what the issue may be, unfortunately. If using another browser does not work, I would recommend contacting the Help Desk staff at Instructure. You can contact them by clicking on the "Help" icon (in your view, this is the "?" icon) on the left side of your screen. Then, you will have some support options. If you "Report a Problem", you first want to make sure that you are on the screen in your course where you are experiencing the issue...because when you submit a ticket, it will send some additional metadata about your browser for the technician to look at, too. If you could please report back with any new findings, that would be great! I hope this helps...good luck!
The Canvas technician made the changes for me. I am still unable to edit
the dates on that one quiz.
I don't know why...
Thanks for the help.

Can you tell us specifically in Quiz One isn't saving? Are you trying to edit the questions or the directions or add new questions or what?
I did notice that your Quiz 1 was due in August whereas Quiz 2 is due later this month.
I have tried unsuccessfully to change the dates. The due date should be
January 17 at 11:59 pm. The opening date should be January 8 at noon (or
the closet we can get to that time/date). (BTW the dates on quiz 1 are
actually for August 2017).

I updated the dates at you specified. I set the end date/time to coincide with the due date/time. I also updated the quiz name to the same naming convention used for the other quizzes. I'm not sure why it would update for me but not you. It took several minutes for it to finish saving but then it appears to have saved correctly. Who knows?
It is indeed very odd. As a test, I tried changing the opening time from am
to pm. It did not work.
Thanks for your help. I hope we don't have a similar problem in the future.

I now changed the dates by recreating the quiz. But it will not allow
setting a time limit.

Richard, what Internet browser are you using? Chrome or Firefox? Also, have you tried this on a different computer? To me this doesn't sound like a Canvas issue as much as an issue with your Internet browser and/or the computer you are using.
No problem with any other quizzes or assignments.
Same issue regardless of which Mac I use and I tried Firefox to no avail.

Are we still talking about your Chapter 1 Quiz?
Yes, I still cannot edit it, such by setting a time limit.

I went back into your course and saw that the Chapter One practice quiz was set to have a ten minute limit. I changed it to 11 minutes as an experiment. After that I set it back to ten minutes. Then, as a further experiment I logged into the course, masquerading as you and performed that same set of course edits. Everything appears to be functioning as it should.
You must have checked the wrong class. I just checked my PSYC 3405
Practicum Combined Sections, and there is still not time limit for Quiz 1
which is a graded quiz (not practice). Because students have started taking
it, we cannot change the quiz. But I would like to know what is wrong for
P.s. I attached a screenshot of the page where the quiz is inserted.

Oh, that makes sense. I see the quiz you mean now. I can see where you are hesitant to try changing anything while it is open to students. In the future if you find an inconsistency between what you can do in one quiz vs another, or its not behaving the way documentation says it should, I'd recommend filing a case with Support.
By the way, I don't see any screenshots. I'm assuming that is because you are replying to email notifications rather than being logged into the community and post a reply comment directly.
