I have embedded a Padlet in the course but when I add a post, it does not appear on the Padlet outside of Canvas. Help!!
Hi firstname.lastname@example.org Welcome to the worldwide Canvas Community! I see that you joined us awhile ago, but this appears to be your first post in the Community, so thanks for posting and I'm sorry that your question has been out here a few days.
I am far from an expert on Padlet, but I have a played around with it a wee bit. I have not been able to repeat the issue that you are having. I embedded the HTML on a sample page so that the Padlet appears there, and each time a sample student has posted on it through Canvas, it appears on the Padlet site just fine. I'm not sure if you have a site license/paid subscription or not (I'm just using the basic, free version), but you may want to check around your institution with other Padlet users to see if they're having a similar issue.
This is quite unusual behavior, to say the least. If anything, I would expect the reverse to be more of an issue. (Posting on Padlet and then to Canvas.) You may want to double-check your Padlet sharing settings, too. Mine was set to "secret," and it still worked fine. So your case is quite the mystery!
I'm volunteering myself for troubleshooting also. I have a Padlet that I display in Canvas, and I can post in there OR post outside, and it matches up nicely every time. If I should share a screenshot of my settings or something to help, just let me know:
Padlet inside Canvas:
Hi email@example.com - I wanted to take the opportunity to return to this conversation. How are things going? In January, Ken and Laura offered some tips. Were they helpful? Were you able to get Padlet to function correctly inside and outside of your Canvas course? If you have a few minutes to provide us with an update, that would be awesome. (I also use Padlet, so if you have further questions, I think that between the three of us, you'd find some solutions.)
Thanks for checking, Kristin Lundstrum! I just added a Padlet to a Canvas Page today for a new project, and it seemed to be working fine. I'll be glad to troubleshoot and try to help if there is a Padlet not behaving properly. :-)
Here's my new Canvas Padlet:
I am such a fan of this tool!
Hello there, firstname.lastname@example.org ...
I have been reviewing older questions here in the Canvas Community, and I came across your question. I noticed that we have not heard back from you since you first posted this question back in late January 2018, and so I thought that I would check in with you. It looks like you've received some feedback from various members of the Community. Have you had an opportunity to review their replies? If so, did any of the above replies help to answer your question? Or, are you still looking for some help with your original question? If you feel that one of the above answers has helped you, please feel free to mark that response as "Correct". However, if you are still looking for some help with this issue, please come back to this thread to post an update so that someone from the Community might be able to assist you. For now, I am going to mark your question as "Assumed Answered", but that won't prevent you or others from posting additional questions and/or comments below that are related to this topic. I hope that's alright with you. Looking forward to hearing back from you soon.
I am having the same problem/issue as the person who posted this. Only about half the students were able to get their responses to "stick" ... rest disappeared! I've used padlet a lot outside of Canvas and have not had this problem! It must somehow be related to Canvas. Those of you who haven't had a problem ... maybe it's a browser thing? I didn't think to check what browser people were using ... I was using Chrome. I'm using the free Padlet version and set the SHARE to MODERATE. I just used the EMBED code provided there and embedded it in a PAGE on Canvas.
Anybody have any ideas?
I've never done a moderated Padlet, Gail Gradowski, so maybe that is part of it also. If you find that you are accepting all your students' posts, perhaps you might skip the moderating and see if that helps...?
