I have a teacher that has preloaded Word documents in Canvas and wants to have students download them directly to Google Drive without a server in the middle. Is that possible?
I checked "Balloons" out and that works for making a screenshot of your item but does not download the actual file such as a Word file. I added the "Save to Google Drive" extension and that works real well. It saves a Word document and it appears similar to a PDF but you can then open it in Drive which turns it into an editable document.
Not to my knowledge...though there are apps or plug-ins that may be able to do that. For example, this site ([Chrome] Save files directly to Dropbox or Google Drive without downloading them first with Ballloon | Reviews, news, ti… ) mentions a free Chrome browser extension that can do that. Of course, the student must be using Google Chrome to do this, and your local University computer lab manager may have definite second thoughts about installing it!
The school is moving to Google so I doubt that will be an issue. This looks
like it will work. I will test it out. Thank you.
