Instead of making a new Collaboreation, can I import an existing Google Docs file into my Collaborations?
And if so, how do I have to do this?
If it’s in a different course then yes. Otherwise you could share it with the students outside of collaborations and just through the Google Doc sharing option.
You can can upload a word doc to your Google drive and share it with students.
What are you trying to accomplish? Maybe if we understood that better we could better help you with this.
Mathijs, I'm sorry your question has sat here unanswered for so long. Were you able to figure out the answer to your question? I'm not 100% sure, but from my experience, no collaborations don't copy over with a course and I just checked and don't see it as an option when you import specific content (so no way to select it). The best thing I could think of is copying and pasting the text/information from one class collaboration into another.
So if you have an existing google doc, with comments etc, and you want to make it a collaboration in a group. The only way is to make a new doc and copy/paste your existing doc into the new one?
This is bit annoying.. also because it is not even possible to upload a word doc in the google doc.
Ah yes I understand, if you have a google doc you can share it with the students in different ways. You can also put a link in a module, etc etc.
But if you want to make a collaboration in a Canvas group you always have to start with a new document right?
Yes! That is correct!
Thank you for your reply
