My students are getting the attached error message when they try to turn in an assignment through turnitin.com. Any help would be appreciated.
We had an issue with something similar some time ago. If I remember correctly (and I am digging deep here to about 18 months ago), I believe it was due to something that went slightly awry when we first created the assignment. We had a start date set after the end date (or something equally quirky).
Is it possible for you to do a quick sanity check on the assignment and ensure that you have a proper date set (in the correct year etc, I know that sounds crazy but something in the back of my mind is reminding me that this was particularly relevant to our case).
If you find that the start and end dates are correct, and valid, I would suggest logging into Turnitin directly as the instructor, loading up the assignment and double checking straight within the Turnitin interface.
Could you please have a quick look at those and let us know how you go?
Hope it helps!
Hey, David! In addition to the good advice Stuart gave, the next thing to do to get rid of this error is to open the assignment. That is, access the Turnitin assignment in Canvas by visiting the Turnitin inbox for the assignment. That should solve the issue. While you are at it, I suggest opening up all of your Turnitin assignments for the rest of the term so that the error does not pop up again.
I hope that helps!
Hello David Willis...
Both Stuart Ryan and Dallas E Hulsey have given you some excellent advice here, and so I am going to mark your question as "Assumed Answered". If you feel that either Stuart's or Dallas' answer is "Correct", please go ahead and mark it as such. Marking your question as "Assumed Answered" won't prevent you or others from posting additional questions and/or comments below that are related to this topic, however. I hope that's okay with you. Thanks David!
