My purpose is to deep link to courses within the Canvas App on iOS
Alright, so I talked to the engineers and retested a few of these links and it is working for me. Initially, it wasn't working, but it's because I have multiple users saved inside my Canvas app. Once I removed those users and just had one, it worked fine. The only caveat is if the user is not active and has to select their user on the login screen, but once selected it takes the user to where I want to go.
What kind of issues are you running into? Are you getting errors? Is that app doing nothing?
Hi Andrew Bowns,
This is the most up to date documentation on the mobile apps. Even though it hasn't been updated in many years, the majority of them still work. I had a discussion with the lead iOS engineer last month about these APIs and hopefully they'll be more iOS support in the future (everything is very Android-heavy). What exactly are you trying to do with the APIs?
Ryan Seilhamer we are adding links to the canvas course in the student schedule portion of our university app. We want those links to deep link to the courses in the canvas app. We are able to do this on Android, but not yet on iOS. Let me know if this is possible or if it's something that can be implemented in the future. Thanks!
I had a quick discussion with the lead iOS mobile engineer and it "should" be possible, but clearly it's not working right now. I'll keep following up to see if this can be fixed or implemented. We could possibly use this feature in the future, so I have personal interest as well.
Were you able to find an answer to your question? I am going to go ahead and mark this question as answered because there hasn't been any more activity in a while so I assume that you have the information that you need. Also, if this question has been answered by one of the previous replies, please feel free to mark that answer as correct.
Robbie Grant Admin,
I've been waiting to hear the follow up from Ryan Seilhamer. If there's been no headway on if this type of deep linking is possible then we can close the issue. If not I'd like to know if there's a feature request that I could follow to know when it's done.
There is no update on this. I put in another ping to see if I can gauge if this will be developed any further. Stay tuned...
