How do I set up my Canvas course such that a TA can perform "moderated grading" for a discussion?
Ashley, welcome to the Canvas Community! To start, do you have the ability to add users to your course and if so, do you have the ability to designate what their role is? I just want to make sure what functionality/abilities you have in Canvas so I can make sure and give you the correct information and/or links to resources/guides.
Yes, thank you. I added the TA as a user and was able to designate her
Ashley, so is the issue then that the TA can't do moderated grading? I haven't used this feature myself, but I did some searching and found the following guides - How do I add a moderated assignment to be graded by multiple reviewers? and How do I add and manage students in a moderated assignment as a moderator? Have you worked through setting up your assignment using this information already? If so and your students still can't grade, then I'd check with your school to see if maybe there are some permissions that need adjusting in order for your TA's to be able to grade using the moderated grading functionality.
Thanks for looking into this for me. I appreciate it. No, unfortunately I
can't set it up as a moderated assignment because even graded discussions
are under "discussions" instead of "assignments", so I can't set it up like
I would a regular assignment. Maybe I'll just have the TA communicate with
me. I'm not sure. Thanks for your help!

I didn’t find an answer to my question but I was able to think of a
workaround so it’s all worked out.
