Posting Grades to Gradebook with Moderated Grading

Moderated grading is an integral part of some of the classes that my institution manages. Allowing multiple graders to grade an assignment and then a moderator choosing a final grade really simplifies grading for us.

The problem with moderated grading, though, is the fact that once a teacher clicks the 'Post' button, everything is read-only and no other submissions can be moderated. This specific class is structured in a way that all students work at a different pace, and when they finish their work, their final grade gets posted so waiting for all students to submit their work for a particular assignment is not an option.

My question is, is there an easier way to do this? Should the moderator manually enter the grade in the gradebook and not use the moderate feature?

I tried to find more answers from the community because I haven't really determined why posting grades in moderated grading would lock it for everyone else.

Thanks
