It's the end of term and I have a whole bunch of grades. Mixed in the grade book are a few ungraded assignments here and there. Is there a way to see any and all ungraded assignments in some sort of list format so I don't miss any?
I don't believe that there is a way to find all of the ungraded assignments unless they have a tag attached to them like "missing" or "late". At that point, you could filter the assignments in the grade book and then visually look for the corresponding color that may have an ungraded assignment.
You can also treat all ungraded at zero, but that may not accomplish what you are wanting either.
I did do the " treat all ungraded at zero" but for students with text entries I don't want to miss one. I have 90 students and a lot of small assignments as well as quizzes that have at least 1 written response question. Seams like in that sea of numbers I keep finding single little assignments that were either late or I missed. I've been scanning through by eye, but it doesn't seem totally efficient and I am afraid I will miss one or more. Oh well, I think I may go blind...
Thanks for your answer!
Robin, I’m not sure if you realized it or not, but treat all ungraded as zero does not change the grades for the students. It only changes the grade the Instructor sees.
Are these late assignments not showing up on your Instructor To-do list on your course home screen? Mine always show up there.
They might not be late because I gave extensions for some assignments to random people for random reasons. You know, "grandma died" "my son got stabbed" " I had to work late at my 3rd job". I don't want to be a hard ass, what do you say when a lady says her son got stabbed? Give her an extension and don't ask any more questions. Anyway, these don't show up on any late list.
I think I graded everything, but as I was scanning through finalizing my summer grades it seemed like if I could have just clicked the "show ungraded" button life would be a lot easier. Appears that button does not exist. Yet...
Oh yes, I have noticed that 0 thing. I manually go through and put in 0's. That too is kinda lame. A missing assignment is not the same as a 0. I also hate for a student who did 1 assignment out of 10 thinking that he has an A and clearly there is no reason to do any more work. The students can also see the ungraded as 0 grade but they have to change a setting on their side to see it. I am always telling my students to be aware of it. Also the iPhone app only shows the better grade.
