Can "What If" grades be disabled? We don't want students chasing points by looking for minimum scores. We also don't average grades so it goes against our grading philosophy anyways.
Hello, Carissa Duran and Welcome to the Canvas Community! An individual instructor who wishes to disable the "What if" functionality for students in a specific course can do so in this fashion:
1. Go to Course --> Settings --> Scroll down to the bottom and select "more options"
2. Enable "Hide totals in student grades summary" and "Hide grade distribution graphs from students"
When a student tries to change a grade to a "What if" grade with the above settings selected, it won't affect the Total Grade Summary - essentially disabling it.
For more information about our commitment to the availability of the What If feature, please read Disable "What If" Feature.
