Hello, can I save my Canvas class info and set up on my computer as a document/file ?
Hi, and welcome to the Canvas Community, nicolas touron Welcome
Are you asking as a student or as a teacher?
As a teacher, your course can be retained forever; although on a practical note some schools start archiving or deleting courses after awhile. We archive by inactivating teachers to remove the course from their Courses list, but keeping it available if needed.
As a student, this will depend you have two download options available if enabled by your teacher, or your school........
Downloading is only half the story, you will also want to print...........
I hope this is helpful,
Kelley
Hi again, nicolas
So you now know your content is safe, and really does not need to be printed for posterity, although you may have other reasons for printing. There is also no real need to download content to use in future classrooms, because it is very easy in Canvas to copy content between courses.
Learn more at:
For the files that you add to a Canvas course which are not native Canvas Content (pages, discussions, quizzes etc.), this content is digital, and should be saved on your own PC in some kind of logical manner so that it can be used again when needed. However, sometimes faculty inherit an already populated course, and wish to capture/save the files for some other use. Canvas has a Files area in each course, and you also have your own User Files area. You can learn more about files in the Files Chapter of the Instructor Guide.
Anything else we can help you with, just holler or throw something sharp or heavy to get our attention. Alternately, you could just post a question, but that is so pedestrian.
