Is it okay not to put in availability dates on assignments except for the mid-term and final, which obviously are only available beginning at a specific time? I know if I don't, the student submissions will just show as late.
Cheryl, greetings! I don't use availability dates for any assignments, discussions, or quizzes in my class - so technically no, you don't have to use them. Yet, I do control access to assignments through my Module availability settings. I make it so that only a certain number of future Modules (and the content in these Modules) are available to students at any given time. This keeps students from working too far ahead.
I guess the bigger question is are you ok with students possibly working ahead on assignments or would you rather control assignment availability through the Module settings rather than individual assignment settings?
Thank you Kona! I'm learning more each semester and trying to streamline some of the steps I normally go through for setting up my classes . My thought process aligns with yours. Also, do we need to have the chapter reading assignments in the grade book since there are no points associated with them? Are we permitted to remove them, and if so how? Thanks!
