I am new to online classes, why will my Anatomy class not load?
Hi Eric, than k you for answering my question. My Psychology class is on my Dashboard but not A & P. I am currently on my laptop but have tried from different computers. I will have to contact Tech Support tomorrow morning.
Thanks again, Stacy
If this is the beginning of the semester, it may be that your A&P course hasn't been published by the instructor yet. Hopefully that isn't the case, but your school's tech support would know the answer for sure.
It might also be that the course hasn't started yet. We occasionally have late-start classes that don't start with the regular classes. Hopefully A&P isn't one of those; there's a lot of material to cover in that course.
One thing you can check before you contact technical support is to go the Courses link in the global navigation menu on the left side of Canvas. Then click All Courses at the bottom of the list. Look for your A&P course. If you find it and there's not a star next to it, then it's not been marked as a favorite. Only favorites show up on the Dashboard and you can check the star in front to make something a favorite.
If your school is like ours, you don't have to wait for school to open in the morning to contact technical support. Our students can go to the Help menu in Canvas and report a problem or ask their instructor a question. I'm not 100% positive the ask the instructor a question will work if the course is not published. As for the report a problem, our school has a couple of very dedicated employees who check messages from students outside normal college hours, on weekends, on holidays, and even while they're on vacation themselves. I can't speak for Johnson County; I just know our students are lucky to have them.
There are other possibilities, but those are the most common ones I can think of. Good luck.
Hi Stacy and welcome to the Canvas Community! I have a couple of follow-up questions that may point to a solution. Are you trying to access your class on a computer or through the mobile app? Do you get any type of error message or see anything on the screen at all when the course fails to load?
I haven't had this happen myself, but have experienced slow load times due to interruptions in our wifi. You might try accessing your class from another location to see if the issue persists or restart your computer to see if re-initiating the internet connection makes a differece. I have personally plugged my computer directly into our modem from time-to-time to try and speed things us a bit. Also, sometimes trying another web browser (such as Chrome and FireFox) helps.
Good luck and I hope this gets resolved soon!
