Is it possible to duplicate a quiz, so that I get all of the same settings, question types etc... so all I have to do is update the individual questions, not start from scratch?
Andrea, you can duplicate a quiz, or any other item in Canvas, by following the instructions James Kocher has provided in his helpful resource in the Instructional Designers group: Copying items in a course
(If you aren't yet a member of the ID Group, you can join with a single click. )
This will result in an exact copy of the quiz, questions and all. You can then update the questions as needed.
As James points out, you have to take great care not to overwrite your original item. For that reason, I like to keep all of my course items in a separate course shell or sandbox, and then simply import them into the live course as needed.
Andrea, yet another way to copy course items is through the use of Canvas Commons. The many benefits of Canvas Commons are outlined in this now-archived feature request: Duplicate, Clone, or Copy anything in Canvas If your school doesn't already have access to Canvas Commons, talk with your CSM.
The problem with using commons is that it will overwrite copies already imported in. For example, if you put Quiz A into commons, and then import it back in, it will work. If you try to import it again into your course, it will overwrite the previously copied quiz you imported the first time. At least that was how it was working in Beta when I tested it!
James, it looks like the fix for that is in development: Option to Import from Commons as a Copy (rather than overwriting) for Templating
