I am trying to upload more files for my course and am getting this error message: Error: file size exceeds quota.
At the bottom, it says that I have 89% of 524.3 MB used. Do I need to request more data storage? What is going on?
Yes, it looks like your school has a quota of 524.3 Mb, and you the files you are trying to upload would cause the storage used in the class to exceed that.
It's possible that you will need to request more storage for your course.
However, the first suggestion would be to see about deleting any files that you don't need, and minimizing the sizes of those files that you are using or find some other place to store them. 525 Mb is a fairly large amount to storage for a class, and some things like large video files and multimedia presentations might be better stored somewhere outside of Canvas, where a single copy can be shared across multiple courses, if your school has a media server available. Also, images and videos may be recorded in high resolution which may be unnecessary and add a lot to the file size.
