How do I move content from one course to another?
Hi Odette , and Welcome to the Canvas Community!
This is a very easy Canvas functionality to use, and you can learn how in the Course Import Tool Chapter in the Canvas Instructor Guide.
I will add one simple trick to make the process even easier, if your school uses a course ID or Item number, use that ID or Item number when searching for the course you wish to copy from. This might not be too important if you are just starting with Canvas, and only have a few courses, but it becomes really important when you have a very long Courses list.
Let us know how it works out for you,
Oh my gosh, Odette Horton!!!!!! It's you!!!!!! Did I read somewhere that Andy retired? Anyway, hugs and hellos to you both!
Kelley L. Meeusen Odette Horton is in the Film and Video Studies program at my school. Yay!
I haven't had any trouble using the course import feature that Kelley linked to there, but if you run into trouble or something is not working right, there is a Canvas team in the CAS OATS office. They are really working hard this year on outreach and helping people with Canvas; I just got this email from them this morning in fact (below). They are experts in all things OU-Canvas! If you are not on the mailing list that gets these teaching tip emails (I'm honestly not sure who gets these emails; maybe just people who teach fully online courses...?), you can send Beth McCoy or any of the team a note and they will add you to the list.
Hi Laura , and thanks for the introduction!
If I had known you were family, Odette , I would have been nicer! Anyways, and all joking aside, any friend of Laura's and all that jazz.
I hope to see more of you in the Community!
