Howdo students start chat on canvas for a class
Hi Gita,
For students to start a chat with the Canvas Chat tool they can click on the Chat tool and begin posting. The basics are covered in this guide What is Chat?.
I would note that this does need to be enabled at the institution level, so that you can have the Chat tool in your course Navigation (and you may need to double check, if it is not showing for students, that the tool isn't disabled in your course navigation settings).
