Help! I'm trying to post events, to-dos, and assignments to the calendar. In student view, only things entered as assignments show up. To-Do and Events only appear in my view.
When you added the Events and To Dos, did you make sure to change the Calendar? Everyone in Canvas has a Personal Calendar and it's at the top of your list of Calendars. As such, when you add something to the calendar it usually defaults to your personal calendar. That would explain it not showing in Student view for your course.
If this is the case I have two suggestions going forward. When adding events ALWAY choose your course before entering the details so that you don't forget. Better yet, unselect your personal calendar from the ones being displayed on the right. If you don't have it selected it won't be an option when adding events and To Do items.
