Can I copy and paste things typed into rich content editor from one course to another? If so, how? Thank you.
Hi Krista and welcome to the Canvas Community!
One of the easiest ways to do this may be to open one course in your browser tab, navigate to what you would like to copy, and copy the content. You can then open a second browser tab and navigate to the second course, open the location you would like the content pasted, and paste the content. Having the courses in different tabs will make it easy to copy items from one tab, and paste it in another.
If you have entire course elements (page, discussion, announcement, etc.) that you would like to transfer from one class to another, you can do this as well. The process is described in this document.
How do I copy content from another Canvas course using the Course Import tool?
As the document explains, when you copy a Canvas course you can select which course elements you would like to bring over to the new shell.
I hope this helps and best wishes!
Hi, Krista Rivera and I'd like to add my own Welcome to the Canvas Community! Eric Werth has given you great information. I'll mention that I liked using the copy-paste method, as long as the content I wanted to duplicate from Course A didn't contain links to specific course areas and files in Course A. If you copy-and-paste those links from Course A to Course B, students who are enrolled in Course B, but not in Course A, will get an error message when they click on them.
So when in doubt, use the content import method and make sure to enable the Select Specific Content box. The import process will bring relative links over from Course A to Course B.
