Roll call in XL - organize differently?

I ran the attendance roll, but when I opened the XL sheet emailed to me, it was strangely organized.  I expected, and would be able to use, one column with all names, then columns for each day.  Instead, there was a separate row for each student and each day, so: R1 John Doe, Aug 21; R2 Jane Doe, Aug. 21; R3 John Smith, Aug 21, R4 John Doe, Aug 22, R5 Jane Doe Aug 22 and so on.  Is there a way to change this output?
