how do i find an invitation to a class
Hi lainey lanz and welcome to the Canvas Community! This may depend a bit on how your instance of Canvas is set up and how "invitation" is being used here. At my institution, someone will receive an invitation to a course if they are added to a class that has not been set up by our registration system. In these cases, we have set up Canvas so that the individual is emailed an invitation to participate in the course. When they click on a link in the email it will allow the person to log in to Canvas and accept the invitation. Alternatively, the individual could log in to Canvas and if they have been invited to participate in a course this will appear as a notice at the top of the screen where they can accept or decline the invitation.
At my institution we also have courses where students are allow to self-register for a class. In these instances the teacher will provide a URL to potential students (through email or printed out). When the student enters that URL into their web browser they are taken to page where they can self register for the class. I have heard some people refer to the message containing the URL as an "invitation".
I would start by logging in to Canvas to see if there is an invitation there you can accept or checking your email for an invitation. If this doesn't work you might contact your instructor to see if he/she has any suggestions. Also feel free to let us all know if you were able to locate the invitation. Others may have a suggestion in addition to what I wrote.
Best wishes and good luck finding the invitation!
