How do you join a group if you find one that you like?
My husband and I both are students at Independence University and we both would like to join a group or two.
Jessica, here's a cool thing about groups in the Canvas Community: You can create a question or discussion in a group, and then "share" that question to other groups to which you belong. Doing that not only gains broader exposure for your question, but also keeps duplicate or parallel comment threads and replies from ensuing: all of the replies from our members will appear in one place.
How to share: After you've posted the question, click on the Share link at the upper right of the page and enter group names in the To field (only groups of which you're a member will pop up in that field after you type in a few letters).
Since you've posted a very similar question in a different group, and since that question is also generating responses, we're going to lock this question for additional participation, and ask that people add responses to Earning Badges (which also asks about groups).
Hello Jessica Marcum Welcome to the Canvas Community. Thanks for posting your question. Are you referring to joining groups in courses you are taking at your school? Or, are you asking about joining groups that are featured here in the global Canvas Community website? (Those groups, by the way, are located here: Join Groups). If you could please help to clarify this for us, that would be helpful...thanks!
We would like to join groups on the Canvas Community. Plus another question my husband wanted me to ask, the classes that you can enroll in on here, do you know if they are free to sign up for or do you have to pay to enroll in them?
Jessica, course enrollments are separate from the Canvas Community and, generally speaking, are managed by the individual schools that are using Canvas to facilitate learning.
If you and your husband are interested in looking through free courses, by all means check out Canvas Network | Free online courses | MOOCs
