I want to assign a group project where students use google slides. Is collaboration the best way to do this? And if so, How do I make a collaboration an assignment? Essentially placing it into a module.
Candese, yes, I’ve done this with my students and it’s worked quite well. You can’t put it in a Module as an assignment, but you can create an assignment and include in the directions what you want students to do. I normally include links to the student guides and that really helps!
How do I create a Google Drive collaboration as a student?
How do I submit an assignment on behalf of a group?
How do I upload a file from Google Drive as an assignment submission in Canvas?
Hope this helps! Kona
Thank you so much!!

Hi Kona JonesFor some reason I am having trouble wrapping my brain around how this would work. I have a teacher who created 8 groups; for each group, she then created a collaborative document. She now wants to turn that collaborative document into an assignment. How would that work, exactly? Would you create an assignment for each group and then link to the collaborative document in the instructions? Tell the group to work on it and submit it the URL? It seems confusing.
I like the alternative of creating the Groups, then an assignment, and advising them to create their own Collaboration in the Group. But it seems like the first way is viable, and since she's already created the Collaborations, I was wondering what is the best way to create the assignment.
