Can you make sure students are not able to do peer reviews until after all assignments are turned in? Especially if a student is late.
Julie, per the following guide - How do I automatically assign peer reviews for an assignment? - "You can also tell Canvas to automatically assign peer reviews after an assignment due date has passed." This means you can enter in a specific date (after the due date) for when you want the peer reviews to be assigned. Yet, there isn't a way to have Canvas wait until all students have submitted their assignment before assigning peer reviews. In addition, per the guide above, "if the student has not submitted the assignment or submits the assignment after the due date, the student will not automatically be assigned a peer review and you must manually assign one."
Does this help answer your question?
An option, maybe not the most desirable, check the box to manually assign peer reviews. Then, you could wait and see who turns in on time and manually create the peer reviews within the class.
Hello, teachers --
I'm jumping into this thread as a middle school writing teacher who is looking for a great peer review tool to use next year with my 7th and 8th graders. Would you recommend using Canvas? How easy is it to get going? Do your students like it, and do you see a great benefit in using this tool?
It is definitely a tool to try. It is very easy to use and setup. You may want to think about the assignment and if you want to do manual or automatic assigning of peer reviews. They work well in both discussions and assignments. * I have included the directions below on how to assign to discussions, but it works with assignments too!
Thanks so much for your response! I'll likely give it a try.
