Promted to Save Document Rather Than Automatic Open in Chrome

Hello -

I am new to Canvas and I have a small question.  When I link to a document that is housed in the Files section of Canvas (or anywhere, really), I am prompted to save the document rather than opening it.  I am using the Chrome browser, and I am aware I can fix the problem by right clicking the download and clicking "always open these files".  I think this will frustrate many students. I would prefer that they didn't have to perform this extra step every time they log on to a new computer.  I am aware that we can set the links to automatically open inline preview, but that is not always a good option as we link to multiple documents on some pages and it tends to look overwhelming if they all open at once.  To recap, my question is this:  Is there a way to make linked documents housed in Canvas open in a new tab without having to first change the browser settings to automatically open them instead of saving them?  Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
