I get this error....can't figure out the problem
Turnitin assignment could not be created. date_post - post date must be after start date
TurnItIn has its own date settings which are independent of Canvas. If you create a new assignment in Canvas and add TurnitIn, the Canvas settings get passed over to TII, but if you copy or reuse a course that includes the TII assignment and try to change the date in Canvas, you can end up with this error.
Go to the TurnItIn assignment inbox (open the assignment in Canvas, the click "Settings" when you see "Assignment Inbox" in the corner ) and remove the date settings, then set the dates in Canvas.
Hello Stan Middleton...
I've gone ahead and marked Michael Zimmerman's reply as "Correct" because he has provided you with some good information. I wanted to also share this link with you: Canvas and Turnitin. Assuming that your school has set up the Turnitin LTI/Canvas integration at the account level (rather than at the course level), this blog post includes some directions on how it can be configured such that some of the dates from the Canvas side can get passed over into the Turnitin side so that you don't have to update the same dates two different spots. It does it automatically for you. Check out the section called "As a local Canvas Administrator, how do I configure the Turnitin LTI?" where it discusses the "Custom Fields" text box. You may want to check with your local Canvas administrator at your school to see if those additional lines in the "Custom Fields" box have been added to your own school's Turnitin integration. I hope this helps, Stan.
