I want to added students to a new section without removing them from their old section. So far, I can only move students to a different section by eliminating them from their old section. Possible? If so, please explain.
Hi Eric Worch Welcome to the Canvas Community. Is it possible to do it? Yes. But first you may want to check in with your local Canvas administrator because it's likely that there are some restrictions in place locally to prevent you from doing this. Speaking from my own experience as a Canvas administrator, I can definitely add (for example) TAs to more than one section of a class as well as, indeed, students. (I just did it on our Beta server to be 100% certain in the case of a student.) However, there may be some very good reasons that you cannot do this or should not, not the least of which may be issues with integration with your student information system. But to directly answer your question--and assuming that you can do it--below is a screen capture of a sample student in a test class who was originally in section 2 of the test class, and for whom I also added section 1 enrollment:
I did it by clicking the 3 vertical-dot options icon on the far right, and selecting Edit Sections. On the ensuing dialog box, it is necessary to start typing in some letters of the class name to get the other section to appear; it will not appear on its own:
But as I said, I would check with your local Canvas administrator first!
I hope this helps, Eric!
