I imported announcements from last session, but my photo does not show up in the chosen announcements, even after editing. Instead I see "U" How can I change this?
(Yaddira, I believe Robert is referring to the image associated with his avatar.)
RObert Crone Welcome to the Canvas Community! When announcements (and discussions) are imported from another course, the original author's avatar is no longer associated with the assignment; this is by design, because authors of announcements are often not the instructor of the copied course. That's described in How do I use the Announcements Index Page?
You'll need to recreate the announcements in the course to have your own avatar display in them. Typically, what I did when I was teaching was to use selective course copy to copy my previous semester's announcements into a sandbox course; when I was ready to use them, I copy-pasted each one into the live course and set the appropriate dates.
Hi RObert Crone,
When you imported announcement did you also import files? The image was embedded in the announcement by uploading through Images if you imported just the announcements and not the files where the image resides then it's a broke link now.
If that's the case you can go to the previous courses and download the image and then edit the announcement and insert the image.
Stefanie Sanders ....I totally read that wrong ....thanks
Thanks so much for the replies. It makes sense, of course, that the avatar image should not be included when the export occurs. I will continue to copy/paste announcements as I have in the past, since I don't see any time savings using the export. Always looking to be more efficient. ☺
Thanks again for your help.
