how can I combine 2 sections of a class into one canvas container?
Thanks for the update. I did some digging and found that your school has a custom tool they do this with on their end. Sorry for any confusion. They have a forum where you can submit a request to them HERE.
This is specific to your school and can change in the future depending on their process. They should be able to get those courses crosslisted for you.
Let us know if you have further questions!
Thanks for reaching out. Here is a document detailing how this is done: How do I cross-list a section in a course as an instructor? You should also have the ability to de-crosslist as well, just in case you accidentally send it to the wrong shell. Hope this helps!
Thank you, Mike,
The article looks pretty straight forward, but both of my sections do not show up in the Course Sections list. I think the problem is that my sections are the same class but they are in different departments – BOT & BUS – and I can’t find the “Search for Course” option. I taught the class before but the sections were combined into one Canvas before I was given the class. Is this something I can do or do I have to check with Admin?
That works! Thank you, Mike
Marian, Michael Stewart has given you great information (thanks, Mike!). I'd only add that it is wise to reach out to your school's Canvas admin before embarking upon cross-listing on your own; some schools have their own procedures for cross-listing and in some cases have even disabled instructors' ability to perform this task. Where I used to teach, cross-listing requests were gathered via a Google form prior to the start of the semester, and the school's admin fulfilled the requests via SIS. So, your mileage may vary.
